South Run Recreation Center

Court Details

About this court

South Run Recreation Center brings pickleball to Springfield, Virginia, with 2 outdoor public courts set on tennis court surfaces and using tennis nets — a practical setup that players in good-condition facilities will recognize as functional and accessible. Lights extend play into the evening on weekdays, when hours run 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday. Weekend hours are 7:00 AM–6:00 PM Saturday and 8:00 AM–6:00 PM Sunday, offering solid access across the week. Organized free play is scheduled Fridays from 9–11 AM year-round, weather permitting, with Gerry Rhoads listed as the point of contact for scheduling. The facility holds a 4.5 Google rating across 405 reviews, and visitors consistently note that the space is clean, well maintained, and comfortable for a range of activities. ADA accessibility, locker rooms, and restrooms are available on site, and the broader recreation center includes a pool, fitness center, and kid-friendly areas — making South Run a sensible choice for families or groups where not everyone is there to play pickleball. The Pay To Play tag suggests some court access or facility use may carry a fee depending on membership or program type, so checking directly with the center is worthwhile before your visit.
